PLATFORM FOR PRIDE

BY THE TTC

TTC - Platform For Pride

One letter can make a big difference – and stop people in their tracks. With this extra initiative idea, we took inspiration from the proudest, loudest members of the LGBTQ+ community: Drag Queens. Using Drag Speak, we spoke directly to the community, letting them know that the TTC supports them and Pride. The two station murals mimicked the font and size of the station names, and incorporated a hashtag to encourage lots of selfies.

Multiple mainstream media picked up the story, including Global News, BlogTO, Indie88, Daily Hive and more. The mayor of Toronto tweeted it, as well as Marilyn Dennis, Sarah Richardson, Dina Pugliese, Ru Paul Drag Queen runner up Brooke Lynn Hytes and more – all before a press release even went out.

With the You Said It campaign, we featured real tweets from riders who complained about behaviour on the TTC. The campaign ran in every station, train, bus and streetcar city wide, as well as on TTC TV and Instagram. It also garnered a lot of press:
